Erickson Memorial Lecture

The annual Erickson Lecture is held in honour of Professor John Erickson (1929 - 2002), British military historian, leading authority on the Soviet military during and after the Second World War, and former Head of the Centre for Defence Studies at the University of Edinburgh. This year's lecture will be delivered by Professor Vera Tolz, Sir Willaim Mather Professor of Russian Studies at the University of Manchester. Drawing on fifteen years of research into the Russian media, Professor Tolz will examine Russia’s evolving communication strategies from the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 to the re-election of Donald Trump in 2024, which highlighted the global aspect of disinformation.
